Kateisms

Some of the Kate sayings that we treasure at the moment:

Kate calls a flyswatter a "bugsmacker!"
When she sits in the bath she says the water is "wurm."

The other night I was putting her to bed and she asked me to go downstairs and "get a cup of water, and make sure you put lots of ice in it and get a straw." I paused and looked at her, considering her detailed order and she noticed my hesitation and said: "It's just a favor," to make sure I would get moving.

C and I walked in Kate's room at night to make sure she was getting ready for bed, we asked her to change into her pajamas and she said "I wish I had a dressing room." Apparently she likes her privacy.

Happy Easter

Happy Resurrection Day 2009! Because of their fantastic matching outfits the dolls were allowed to accompany the girls to church. They received a lot of cute smiles and about 12 compliments. Kudos to GramE for the dresses that they absolutely loved.

Phoenix Japanese Friendship Garden

The City of Phoenix is a sister city of Himeji Japan.  This is a Castle/City I visited when I was in college so last friday I took the girls to the Phoenix Friendship Garden.  We met Mom at work for lunch (totally made her day) and then headed downtown.  Here are some photos of our visit.  The Koi fish were very aggressive and started chasing us as we walked before we even fed them.  There must have been fifty of them flopping around trying to get the food.  I was able to touch/pet a bunch of them.  The girls learned about Japanese gardening:  Koi fish are bred for size and color from the old days.  The gardeners intentionally lay uneven stones in the path to make the visitor look down and pause only to look up and capture a particular view.  It was a windy day but the girls very much enjoyed the change of scenery.

2009 Awana Grand Prix

Chloe placed 10th overall in the Scottsdale Bible Church Awana Grand Prix.  Both Chloe and Kassidy raced six heats and had a blast.  The extra interest in speed has resulted in some pre-planning for our designs next year.  Chloe's car is the pink one that wins this race.

Mimi's Kitty

The girls stopped by Mimi & Bapa's to see the new kitty... currently named "Pepper!"  She was super friendly and lovable.

Hiking Trip

Last Friday we went for a quick hike with Dad at Pinnacle Peak Park.  The girls went +1/4 mile to the highest point on the trail and then back down.  They had a blast.

Chloe & Kassidy's artwork

I let the girls use my old tablet PC which has a very cool drawing program. I don't use it much because the screen is small but they have been showing their talent.

Family at City North

Some cool shots at City North and the "J-Dub"

Chloe's poetry

Chloe wrote these and posted them in my home office.  They are a little rough but carry some timeless truths.

"You worked hard,
You worked rough,
It's time for a rest,
and that is enough."

"Money, money,
Bummy, bummy,
Money's a bummer,
because it goes out the dumper."
