Chloe and Dad
Chloe and I have been playing chess and Blink lately. She has chess one day a week after school and so far we have played five times on the board and on my tablet PC. The tablet computer is helpful because it shows her where the pieces can move but I try to balance between the two boards to keep her thinking. So far I have won the games but she is getting closer to wining. I am no chess master so it won't be long. The Blink game is a fast play card game and she is so quick and says "hut" when she plays real fast. "hut, hut hut hut, hut hut..." it is fun to watch.
Hiding out
The other day I was outside working and Christa came out and asked if I has seen Kate. I said, "nope, she should be sleeping" because it was nap time. Christa looked concerned and went back inside. I continued my work and then had a thought about Kate's whereabouts so I went inside. Christa had checked most of the house without locating Kate and began to get that sort of look a mother has when the world is out off kilter. Noticing her concern, I said, "I think I know what is up, follow me." She followed me upstairs into Kate's room where I slowly opened the closet door, and sure enough, there was Kate, passed out on the floor of her closet, underneath the clothes with a few stuffed animals and a blanket for companions. Our laughter woke her up.
Just yesterday I peeked in around nap time and saw her climbing out from the sink cabinet. I guess she is looking for a new hiding place since her previous one had be discovered.

Field Trip Day
Kassidy was VERY excited about her field trip day. A trip to the Corn Maze just makes a little kindergadner so happy. She was very detailed, making sure we packed everything and had all of her stuff in order for the trip. She is actually very helpful, who needs a checklist or notes when she constantly reminded us of everything she needed.

All work no rest
Concerned Kate
On days like today there is about an hour between dropping Kassidy at school and before Chloe's classes start so we go to McDonald's so Kate and Chloe can play on the playground or computer chess, etc. Today while we were leaving there was a very large man coughing violently. I was already going out the door and Kate stopped and looked at him and said, "Are you O.K.?" He assured her he was fine and thanked her for asking. All of us grown ups found it amusing.

Tastes like chicken
During dinner we had fish (talapia) tacos and Kate said "No, it's chicken." We said, "No really, it's fish!" And of course Kate said, "Chicken!" I, realizing I had met my match responded, "Do you know what they call a chicken that swims in the ocean?... fish!" Kate promptly responded in the cutest tone, "Oh, that's wonderful!"
Birthday Party
Tiger's first soccer game
Chloe and Kassidy won their first soccer game 4-3. The "Tigers" led the game 3-1 for the majority of the game and then some breathtaking off-speed kicks through the legs of our goalie made it a close game. This is a picture of Kassidy playing goalie (they rotate and nobody scored on Kassidy). Chloe and Kassidy were in all the action and very excited. We have one boy on the team that is very good. Kate came and cheered on from the sidelines.
